Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM)’s Certified Sustainable Property (CSP) certification recognizes existing energy and water efficient properties for various asset types.
IREM is an ENERGY STAR® partner, so data tracked in ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager can be shared with an IREM account for the CSP application.
Certification Process
CSP certification is based on a point system specific to the property type. All properties must meet a baseline requirement for each of the evaluated categories, and then each property type has its own additional points that must be reached.
To be certified, the property must meet a minimum number of points for the following categories: Management, Energy, Water, Health, Recycling, and Purchasing.
Certification is available for multiple commercial property types, including Multifamily, Industrial, Office, Retail, Medical, and Senior housing.
