The Drake Cement Plant is a state-of-the-art, six-stage precalciner/preheater with a rated capacity of 660,000 tons of clinker per year. Several operating and pollution controls incorporated into the plant are so advanced they are found in only a few other facilities throughout the world.
Partner Energy was contracted to analyze the feasibility, size and optimization of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system to offset carbon-based energy usage. Partner Energy reviewed and analyzed interval data, provided potential demand reduction measures, evaluated local solar isolation and PV power and evaluated possible alternate energy company providers.
Additionally, Partner Energy evaluated the economic viability of different solutions for lack of solar PV power generation due to cloudy conditions or maintenance, including power generation, electrical energy storage or additional PV panels.
