Summary

The Energy Assistance Program is designed to help NHEC's income-qualified members manage energy use with the goal of lowering total energy costs. Qualified members living in an apartment or house, either rented or owned, can receive up to $8,000 in products and services, including a free customized audit report which will help members better understand their home and the factors affecting energy usage. Based on the Home Energy Analysis, NHEC will make recommendations for improving energy efficiency in the customer's home that may help reduce the heating portion of electric bills. Measures identified in the audit are then installed by Community Action Program (CAP) agencies, contractors managed by the Co-op, or Co-op energy specialists. Eligible improvements include:

  • Air Sealing
  • Insulation
  • Programmable Thermostats
  • Hot water saving measures
  • Lighting upgrades
  • Health/safety measures
  • End of life heating systems that are recommended by the auditor
