Summary
New Jersey’s 1999 electric utility restructuring law requires electricity suppliers to disclose to customers details regarding the fuel mix and emissions of the supplier’s electric generation. Utilities are required to report fuel mix under the categories of coal, gas, hydroelectric, nuclear, oil, solar, hydroelectric, wind, and biomass. Emissions of sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide, and oxides of nitrogen must be reported in pounds per megawatt-hour. The disclosures must be made in a graphic, uniform format that can be easily understood by the customer.
