The San Diego Retro–commissioning Program (RCx Program) seeks to improve the performance of San Diego building systems, achieve energy savings, and improve occupant comfort. Under the RCx Program, qualified buildings receive free custom engineering study from their choice of one of the Program’s specialized Providers.
Partner Energy is an approved Provider for the San Diego Retro-commissioning Program.
This 3-5 month investigation digs deep into the building’s systems to uncover hidden energy savings opportunities. The investigation includes interviews with building operators, collection of trend data, functional tests, analysis, and an engineering analysis to identify a list of energy-saving measures.
As soon as measures are identified, the Program provides an offer of financial assistance (implementation incentives) to the owner to help buy down the cost of implementing measures. The owner can implement measures with in-house staff or third party contractors of their choosing.
Once implementation is complete, energy savings are verified by the Provider and the building staff is trained on maintaining the savings. Once energy savings are confirmed with the utility, the Program pays the owner the implementation incentive. At RCx project completion, some buildings may be eligible to continue on with the Program’s free Performance Tracking option.
